Davos, The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine wants to be the first to use a new digital central bank currency (CBDC) and take his salary in e-hryvnia, he told journalists at the WEF.

New legislation will make the country the first jurisdiction in the world for crypto assets, known as Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation in Ukraine, after Ukraine successfully used crypto to fundraise for its military.

In Ukraine, virtual assets legislation signed into law last year, just weeks after the country’s invasion by Russia, will be supplemented by a new tax law for crypto and by a CBDC law due next year from the National Bank of Ukraine, Fedorov said.

“This will enable Ukraine to have the best jurisdiction in the world when it comes to crypto-assets... a complex and comprehensive approach to legalizing all digital assets," he noted.

In a movement without precedent, crypto fundraiser by Ukraine at the beginning of the war managed to raise 178 million dollars in clothes, vehicles and other equipment for military personnel, Not infringing capital control.
