Certik of the blockchain safety company reported on February. 16 he saw a blitz attack on the platypus. The blockchain security company published the story in a tweet, next to the attacker's contract address.

The source indicates that approximately $8.5 million has already been transferred. As a result, the Platypus USD stablecoin became depegged and dropped 52.2% to $0.478 at  time of writing.

A flash attack is the same method used by Avi Eisenberg when he allegedly manipulated the price of Mango Markets’ MNGO coin in October. Eisenberg declared shortly after the feat that he believed that "all our actions were lawful actions on the free market, using the protocol as planned."

The platypus has yet to report publicly on the incident.
