The U.S. Department of Labor just announced inflation (CPI) figures for the last month of 2022 at 6.5% year-over-year.

Meanwhile, most experts also concluded that the basic CPI had increased by 5.7%.

  • CryptoPotato reported earlier this week that all eyes will be on the US Labor Department come Thursday, with most estimations suggesting that the inflation numbers will be around 6%.
  • The real numbers that the American government has announced are exactly the same – a year-over-year increase of 6.5 per cent for the general CPI and 5.7 per cent for the basic CPI (excluding food and energy). But both are still December's tallest jumps in over 40 years.
  • As with earlier announcements we cpi, this one had an immediate effect on the price of Bitcoin.
  • The asset has been on a roll since the start of the year, gaining almost $2,000 in less than two weeks.
  • That translated into a price jump to a monthly peak of $18,400 today. However, the consumer price index has gone from more than $18,300 to just under $18,000 in minutes. Currently, however, the asset has reclaimed a certain amount of land and is back in excess of $18,000.
