Tesla and spacex ceo elon musk recently suggested his company's space exploration spacex and starlink, a project designed to surround land at high speed, low latency and affordability, may soon begin accepting payments in the same-inspired dogecoin cryptocurrency ($doge).

On social media, responding to a tweet from a user suggesting SpaceX’s merchandise store and Starlink could accept DOGE, Musk simply replied with a winking emoji which suggests Musk has already been working on such an integration.

Musk, it’s worth noting, is a well-known DOGE supporter who late last year revealed that he believes the cryptocurrency is better for transactions than other cryptoassets like Bitcoin ($BTC). Musk added that Bitcoin's transaction volume is low while its cost per transaction is high, making it more appropriate as a value store. Being a value store means that investors want to retain their BTC and not sell it or move it into transactions.

Tesla, as CryptoGlobe reported, has invested $1.5 billion in the flagship cryptocurrency earlier this year, and is estimated to be up at least $1 billion on its investment, despite making a small sale after making its initial acquisition.

The electric car maker has also recently started accepting DOGE payments on its website, allowing specific products such as its “cyberwhistle,” its “Giga Texas” belt buckle” and its “cyberquad” four-wheeler for kids to be bought with it. These items all have a doge price, ranging from 12020 pieces for four-wheelers to 300 doge for cybersifflet.

On Tesla’s Dogecoin support page, the firm notes that customers who send the wrong amount of DOGE to its address may see their orders get canceled, and adds that if an order is overpaid in the cryptocurrency the “overpayment amount will not be refunded to the original form of payment.”

Notably, Musk and Billy Markus have earlier this year pushed McDonald’s to accept DOGE as a payment method, but the fast-food giant ultimately did not move forward with such an integration.
