Tom Emmer, a U.S. congressman from Minnesota and chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), announced Thursday that next week he will lead the first cryptocurrency town hall to celebrate innovators leading the development of virtual currencies.

  • According to an announcement made on Emmer’s campaign website, the town hall is intended to encourage “politically engaged voters” to take part in the growing digital asset transformation as the election nears.
  • The event will showcase blockchain industry leaders, including the Executive Director of the Jeremy Allaire Circle, Chief Executive Officer of Ripple Brad Garlinghouse, etoro CEO guy hirsch, bitpay CEO stephan couple and bloq co-founder and president matthew roszak.
  • The announcement said the panel will talk about 'how to keep the US at the forefront of innovation.”
  • Emmer is a member of the House Finance Committee, a senior member of the FinTech Working Group and Co-Chair of the Congress Blockchain Caucus.
  • The Town Hall is being held in partnership with the Digital Chamber of Commerce (DCC) pac.
  • The Town Hall, which will take place virtually on August 20 at 12:30 pm, is open to the public.
