China's Digital Yuan Wallet App Now in iOS and Android App Stores

The central bank of China released its digital currency portfolio application before the Winter Olympics. The wallet app for the digital yuan, also known as e-cny, can now be downloaded from iOS and Android app stores across the country.

The Yuan Wallet digital app is now available for download in iOS and Android App Stores.

The Central Bank of China, the People's Bank of China (PBOC), has released a pilot version of its Central Bank Digital Currency Portfolio App (CBDC).

Developed by the pboc digital money research institute, the portfolio application for e-cny, also known as e-payment in digital currency (dcep), is now available for download in ios and android boutiques in china. Previously, the portfolio application was only available for download through private links. The application is free.

Mu Changchun, chief of the pboc digital currency research institute, said in november that about 140 million chinese residents had opened a digital yuan account in october 2021, with cumulative transactions of rmb 62 billion (us$9.7 billion) since launch.

Pboc gang yi governor said in november that china would continue to advance the development of its central bank digital currency and improve its design and use, enhance its interoperability with existing payment tools.

Within the yuan digital wallet application, there is a notice explaining that the application is in a pilot phase of research and development. According to SCMP, new user registrations are limited to the current digital trial areas yuan and by the major banks that provide e-cny services. The trial areas are shenzhen, suzhou, xiongan, chengdu, shanghai, hainan, changsha, xian, qingdao, dalian, and the venues for this year's Winter Olympics, organized by beijing.
