Cardano is in the process of starting the secp upgrade. The upgrade is scheduled for February 14th. The hype around the upgrade occurs at the same time when the network is experiencing an increase in development activity.

Github development business on cardano exceeds many other major blockchain networks. Like shared on twitter, the github data shows that cardano sits on top of ten other blockchain networks repeatedly. With cardano stitches up to 797, polkadot, ethereum, filecoin and six other blockchains are behind.

According to the same data source, this is the 7th time that Cardano’s daily development activities have toppled many other blockchains.

Next to cardano, polkadot is another network which has in particular reached this stage. Etheum and cosmos have also taken over the position on a few occasions this year.

Cardano’s SECP upgrade and all its pros for the network

SECP upgrade is approaching, and Cardano lovers have one more thing to be excited about.

“Another reason why you should fall for Cardano. Valentine's day is right around the corner, and is therefore the valentine (aka secp) update." inputoutputglobal tweeted as far as the update is concerned. Moreover, another tweet explained that "This upgrade comes to Cardano to promote the development of secure inter-channel DApp with Plutus, while advancing blockchain interoperability."

Cardano gave a breakdown of the upgrade, explaining that the SEP or SECP256k1 is the name of the elliptical curve as many blockchain as bitcoin, Ethereum and BINANCE Coin used for public key cryptography integration. The curve uses a key pair to validate trade signatures.

Excerpts of the blog post read;

“Examples of SECP include the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) and Schnorr signatures. This allows users to check the integrity of some burned data. The ECDSA and Schnorr signature algorithms work with the SECP256k1 curve in many blockchain applications."

Cardano uses the Edwards-curve (EdDSA) elliptical curve numerical signature algorithm 5519 as its native signature algorithm.

The overall input output (iog) is configured to allow efficient construction of inter-channel applications. Iog is now going to include an integrated feature to support ecdsa and schnorr signatures and cardano's native signature.

The integrated functions will become born of cardano. They will also be verified and integrated by experts to ensure the highest level of security. The functions will allow the developers of plutus dapp to expand the selection of multi-signature or threshold signature.
