Barclays Invests Millions of Dollars in Crypto Custody Firm Copper

Global financial services provider Barclays PLC has announced that it will purchase a millions of dollars stake in the crypto-copper company.

Barclays, headquartered in London, will invest several million dollars in the company under a new financing cycle for Copper Technologies (Switzerland) AG, which will be completed in the coming days, London sources are saying. A copper spokesman declined to comment as the round of funding is under way.

Barclays had previously invested in Elwood Technologies, a provider of crypto trading software, in May 2022.

Former Chancellor Philip Hammond as copper consultant. Among other things, it provides custodial, primary brokerage and settlement services to cryptocurrency institutional investors. It serves more than 400 customers, including merchants, family offices and crypto funds. It uses exclusive clearloop technology to connect 45 cryptocurrency exchanges with instant offline settlement on its embedded networks.

Decrease in the value of copper.

Amidst the euphoria of the 2021 crypto bull market, Copper raise $500 million at a valuation of $3 billion in a Series C funding round but was locked in a fruitless tussle with U.K. regulators. It was in discussions with tiger global, soft bank group, and accel to participate in the funding, originally scheduled for November 2021.

It downscaled its ambition to $2 billion after securing regulatory approval in Switzerland through a Swiss entity in Zug in May. It is a member of the Swiss Association for the Standardization of Financial Services ("vqf") after having met the requirements for the fight against money laundering. Vqf is a self-regulatory body approved by the Swiss Securities and Markets Supervisory Authority.

$50 Million Copper Series B Financing in a Global Venture Capital Software Enterprise co-led investment cycle.

The providential investors in series b included local and mmc initiatives. London-based LocalGlobe has invested in quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and metaverse companies. MMC Ventures’ investments include cloud infrastructure, digital health, and fintech startups.

Collaboration with Holoride.

Copper has recently teamed up with the Munich company Holoride, which is innovating on the first embedded immersive multimedia platform. Copper will offer Holoride's $ride token guard services, an innovative and neutral mobility token for transportation applications.

The token tour lives on the elrond blockchain, featuring ads on gate.io, mexc, and bitmart. The Copper Guard facilitates the management of RIDE chips by automobile, media and other institutions.
