The cryptography industry seems to be slowly recovering from the catastrophic collapse of FTX cryptography trading, marking one of the worst years in the industry's history.

Nevertheless, many blockchain networks are making progress in terms of development activity.

  • According to the latest data from the crypto-analytic firm Santiment, Polkadot (DOT) and Kusama (KSM) are leading with the most GitHub commits over the past 30 days. Both networks had a score of 441.5.
  • Cardano (ADA), Decentraland (MANA), and Status (SNT) are trailing behind, capturing the top five of development activity with a score of 337, 309.83, and 308.83, respectively.
  • Ethereum (ETH), which went on to become the blockchain with the most active developers in 2022, assumed ninth place with a development activity score of 219.83.
  • It was classified behind networks like cosmos (atom), filecoin (wire), and Internet computer (icp), which got 258.33, 252.67, and 220.47, respectively.
  • Github activity is identified as a critical measure in project analysis. Many developers devote their time and expertise usually indicates trust in the particular ecosystem.
  • Despite the sudden crypto winter, web3 developers are up. In fact, a recent report by Electric Capital stated that the number of monthly active Web3 developers has increased by 5.4% to more than 23,300 in the past year.
  • More precisely, the number of “full-time” devs, defined as those who contribute to 76% of GitHub commits, surged by over 8%
  • A major slump in developer activity was during the fall of the Terra ecosystem in May of 2022. The next three months saw a 26% decrease in the number of web3 developers working weekly.
  • A total of 61127 new Web3 developers entered the industry in 2022, up nearly 26 per cent from the previous year.
