While most metaverse experiences exist entirely in digital spaces, whether it be November’s Metaverse Music FestivalMarch’s Metaverse Fashion Week, Pedigree’s activation is focused on creating long-term impact outside of the metaverse.

Foster verse activation will make it possible for users to favour virtual dogs on the decentralized metaverse platform. In order to participate, owners of virtual land in Decentraland can choose any available dog from pet adoption site Adopt a Pet and upload avatars based on their photos to the platform.

Those without decentralised land and still able to interact with virtual pets, including talking to other users to find out more about dogs in the real world, make a donation to the genealogy foundation to assist other pets in need or adopt their real-world counterparts.

According to a report from Shelter Animals Count, just over half of dogs in shelters are finding new homes these days. By providing users with the ability to host pets in a virtual space, it is hoped that they will be more likely to adopt a dog in real life.

Pedigree will also be contributing up to $100,000 to support the foundation, with a focus on funding placement programs for shelters across the country.

The pedigree brand and pedigree foundation have a long-standing history of supporting animal shelters and encouraging the adoption of dogs, and this program gives people the opportunity to support deserving dogs in a new way through virtual homes," said Jean-Paul Jansen, March Petcare North America's vice president of marketing, A press release was issued.

In addition to promoting a virtual dog, users can flex foster verse wearables on their avatars as well.

Pedigree is not the only one in his efforts to use web3 to educate on the homelessness of pets. In April, blockchain firm Pawtocol created a crypto-backed pet fund to support shelter animals in being adopted.
