The crypto world is still a wildly western landscape. Certainly in comparison to traditional finance, with buttoned costumes, strict rules and decades of history, crypto is a total renegade.

This has been strengthened in this week's podcast. I interviewed Elijah Tan, who took an act of faith when he left his work as Goldman Sachs for the blockchain world.

Following a set-up at Binance, he is now vice-president of operations at Coins.ph.

It was an interesting conversation with someone who talked in a fun way about how he was "disapproved" of jumping through cryptography at the time – before cryptography made its way into the general public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of course, there has been a roller coaster ride in cryptography since the days before the pandemic. Eli tells how it has been, and how the current bearish market affects coins and other trades.

The other thing we talked about was the different regulatory environment in the Philippines. There is no doubt that recent developments in Canada have had seismic impacts on trade and space in general. The dramatic implosion of ftx in November showed how savage cryptography can be, and the recent stop of binanceusd is the last signal that legislators are repressing space.

Elsewhere, the Philippines were well known for adopting the play-to-earn (p2e) model, particularly blockchain gaming that exploded in 2021. But p2e saw the figures fall off a cliff, so I chose the spirit of Eli on how it affected coins and the overall crypto attitude in the country.

So did the bear market, It was fascinating when Eli spoke about the changing attitudes during the pandemic, and the resulting bear market, to its rebel movement to leave the comfortable confines of traditional for cryptography.

If you're thinking about upgrading to crypto, you might be interested in Eli's thoughts!
