According to a new February social-media post. 1, self-governing decentralized organization, or makerdao, has approved the creation of a new fund devoted to legal defense expenses. 

Makerdao is the issuer of U.S. money. As reported by developers, manufacturer will allocate 5 million dai to "reimburse legal defense costs in the event of legal or regulatory proceedings against specific makerdao participants." The post further explained:

"Initially, the coverage will be provided to Recognized Delegates, Core Unit Facilitators, Core Unit permanent contributors, and active MKR holders. The lawsuit against the beneficiary must be directly related to the activities of the beneficiary in MakerDAO."

In explaining the decision, the proponents emphasized that these costs could not be "shifted by traditional insurance." The MakerDAO The Defence Fund will therefore serve as a means of self-insurance for its members. In addition, the pre-existing foundation fund is used to prosecute third parties who violate the manufacturer's intellectual property.

The organization said an external technical committee would manage claims and payments with the authority to recommend approval or denial of payments based on claims. At the same time, a monitoring committee will consider the recommendation of the technical committee and will have the last word on the application. Upon approval, funds are disbursed in the form of lump sum payments.

While not unique to Maker, the DAO industry has faced mounting concerns over the legal standing of many entities and which statutes would apply to their relevant operations.
