ConsenSys has announced the upcoming release of its zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) rollup to a public testnet on March 28, allowing for stress testing of the layer-2 scaling technology.
Over the last four years, Consensys' R&D team has worked on the redesign. Zkevm is praised for offering fast, high-speed finality and safe regulations on the ethereum blockchain.
A private beta launched in the fourth quarter of 2022 provided quick access to a limited number of users, who processed more than 350,000 transactions and integrated a variety of decentralized applications. Testnet enabled robustness developers to build, test and launch dapps while testing zkevm on a scale.
The integration for our zkEVM is in full flux, and the business is at state-of-the-art levels.
We’ve successfully executed 300k total transactions and are processing more than 50,000 transactions per day

ConsenSys zkEVM is the culmination of work from teams at Infura, Truffle and MetaMask, as well as developers on Besu and Gnark. The integrations and characteristics of the synthesis were intended to eliminate the complexity of developers, improve security and speed up integration times.
A joint announcement with cointelegraph highlighted zero switching fees as an advantage for projects in the ecosystem. Developers can build on the zkevm or migrate existing dapps without modifying the code or rewriting smart deals. Zkevm also uses ether () for gas costs, thereby eliminating the need for translation of third-party code and other middleware solutions.
Consensys zkevm fits into metamask, which aims to speed up user integration. Infura integration also makes it possible for developers to deliver dapps on a large scale. The developers will also be able to build, test, debug and deploy smart strength contracts with a variety of truffle-powered layer 2 developer environments.
Consensys also has the objective of keeping its open-source zkevm after launch. Nicolas liochon, Director of Council Research and Development, says cointelegraph that the purpose of the beta testnet audience is to test the system in the same conditions it would face on the main network where the stakes are higher.
"Users and developers will be able to interact without authorization with our technological stack enabling us to test the system in difficult and conflicting conditions."
Once integrated with the public test, ConsenSys will perform a system output. It is about laying the groundwork for a "high-performance, confident and decentralised network", liochon said.
The last upgrade will also commence its audit and security process to ensure that the zkevm is safe and secure before a launch of the main network scheduled for later in 2023.
Consensys is in talks with the main actors of the ethereum ecosystem to roll out and integrate with its testnet zkevm. Liochon emphasized the emphasis placed on scaling roll-up evm a key factor to make it easy for dapps and tools to move to his zkevm.
Liochon also said that efforts to make applications decentralized and without trust accessible to the public need simpler and cheaper systems. ZkEVM aims to achieve this goal by building a reliable, censor-resistant, decentralised and powerful performance layer that weighs Ethereum.
ConsenSys also places an emphasis on collaborating with Layer 2 ecosystems. Liochon stated that the organization seeks to work with space innovators to convene the first "multi-rover" rollup zkevm.
This kind of scaling rollup would have several implementations of provers generating evidence of calculation validity.
